TV Setup

If this is the first time you have used orchidmedia to watch TV, you will need to select the TV Setup button on the Now Playing Toolbar or select the Actions | TV... | TV setup menu action from the Now Playing menu bar.

 

When you select the TV Setup action, the TV Setup Window displays as shown below:-

1. Device Detection - when the TV Setup Window opens, the software checks for a TV Tuner on the computer. If it is unable to find a TV Tuner card in the computer, you will not be able to watch TV using orchidmedia.

 

2. TV Tuner - the TV tuner name will display in the TV Tuner field. If you have more than one TV Tuner available, you can select the one to use from the Drop down list of devices.

 

3. Audio Input - the software will normally fill in the Audio Input device for you in the Use Audio Input field. If this is blank, then you need to select the device from the drop down list of devices shown. If in doubt, use the TV tuner Device name.  You can route audio for the TV through sound cards to enhance the sound quality, and you can use this field to specify the sound card to use in your computer.

 

4. Next Page - select the Next Page, when both the TV Tuner and Audio Input fields are filled.

1. TV Scanning Options - there are several options to find the correct TV/Cable/Satellite Channels for you TV connection.  Select your Country/Region, and Tuner mode. The Tuner mode should normally be TV frequency.

Select the type of Video Cable that you have used to input into the TV Tuner. This will normally be Tuner

(coaxial cable), but you can also use Composite or SVideo types.  Select the Video Standard for the Country/Region if it is different from the one displayed.   You can also select a Video size and color scheme from the options provided to match the picture quality of your display monitor.

 

2. Auto Scan - to start scanning for TV Channels, you select the Start button. When you select the Start button, you may experience a fuzzy picture on the media screen, and strange audio noises, as the software scans TV frequencies for TV Channels.  

 

3. Names for Channels - when you select the Start button in auto scan, any TV channels found are listed in the Channel list shown.  You need to type a Channel name to identify the Channel when watching TV in the name column provided against the Channel number.

 

4. Stop - the Auto scan will stop when it has scanned all known TV frequencies, but you can stop the autoscan at any time using the Stop button.

 

5. Cancel - select the Cancel button to ignore changes and close the TV Setup Window.

 

6. Save - select the Save button to save the Channels scanned, close the TV Setup Window, and start watching TV.
