Starting orchidmedia

Once you have configured the Local Server settings, the software is ready to run the orchidmedia Desktop Companion. Whenever you start orchidmedia from Windows, the server will now automatically start the orchidmedia Desktop Companion, and hide itself away on the Windows Taskbar.

 

The Server will continue to work whenever you close the orchidmedia Desktop Companion, until you select the Stop Server option in the Server window and select the OK or Exit button.

Before you start the orchidmedia Desktop Companion, let's take one final look at the orchidmedia Server Window:-

1. Server Name should now display the name you entered in the Local Server Settings.

 

2. Current State will show the message "Stopped", initially, and it will change to "Running" when you select the Start orchidmedia option (3).

 

3. Start orchidmedia - select the server control to start this Server, and start the orchidmedia Desktop Companion. When the Server is "Running", it will automatically hide away to the windows task bar.  You can view the Server at any time, by double-clicking on the orchidmedia icon in the Windows task bar.
 

4. Stop Server - select the server control to stop the Server from running.  The orchidmedia Desktop Companion cannot run without the server running, so if you stop the Server, you will also close the orchidmedia Desktop Companion.

 

5. OK Button - select the OK button to hide the Server window if the Server is running, or close the Server Window altogether.

 

6. Start Button - select the Start button, when the server is running, as shown in (2), to start orchidmedia Desktop Companion. Selecting Start orchidmedia (3) will also start the Desktop Companion.

 

To start orchidmedia Desktop Companion, you need to click on the Start orchidmedia server control.
