To edit Photo image files in the Documents Folder, you can access the software associated with the type of the file, by using the Open Action shown as the Open button on the Photos Toolbar, and as the Actions | Open menu option in the menu bar of the Photo Library activity.
You must select a file from the Photo view, before selecting the Open action. The windows operating system maintains a list of the all the software installed on the computer, and the software to use with each type of file that is stored on the computer. When you select the Open action, it will run the software associated with the file.
In the following example, we have opened a JPG image file, and the operating system opens the graphics authoring software associated with this file type. On your computer, you can associate different software with different types using the Windows Explorer, and many software packages will automatically associate themselves with a type of file for just such a circumstance. Modify and alter these settings, outside of orchidmedia for each file type to open the correct software for your types of files on the computer.

Photo View Open Example
In the example shown, we have used the Open button (1), after selecting the File IMG_0157.JPG (2) from the Photo view. The Windows operating system selects and opens the file with the associated graphics software for the JPG Image file type (3).
When you have viewed or edited the file, you can use the Save actions in the external software to save the changes to the file. If you save the file with the same name and use the same folder/directories as the present file, orchidmedia will automatically recover the new version of the file, replacing the old version, when you exit the external software.
If you exit orchidmedia, before closing the external software with the open file, you are prompted to close the external software, so orchidmedia can recover the new version of the files, however, if you choose to exit orchidmedia before you have closed the external software, the original version of the file before it was opened will be used by orchdimedia, the next time you run the software.
If you save the file with a different name or under a different folders/directories than the original file passed to the external software, you can always add the file later to orchidmedia using the Add Photos action. (see Adding Photos for further reading).
