Managing Playlists

In the Now Playing activity and in the Media Panel, there are button and menu actions to manage and control the playback of music and video.

 

To see how this various actions work, the following example shows 20 music tracks loaded using the Music Library Activity in the Media Panel:-

1. The Playlist Size and total time to play displays above the Playlist.

 

2. Play item(s) - you can play items directly from the Playlist by selecting an item in the list, and selecting the Play item menu action from the pop-up menu, by double-clicking on the item, or by selecting an item and pressing the return or enter key from the keyboard.

 

3. Play shuffled - when the media player finishes playing an item, it will play the next item in the playlist. if you select the Play shuffled action from the pop-up menu or from the Shuffle button on the media player, the player will play items in a random order, until it has played every item in the Playlist.

 

4. Play repeated - when the media player finishes playing all the the items in the playlist, it will start playing the items again.

 

5. Remove item - to remove items from the list, select the items using standard mouse or keyboard selection commands, and press the Del key or the remove item menu option.

 

6. Rate item - you can sort and order music and video files by popularity using the Rating field. You can rate items using the Rate item menu option. Ratings are from 0 - unpopular to 5 stars - popular.

 

7. Shuffle Playlist, Reverse Playlist - select the Shuffle Playlist to randomly sort the items in the playlist into a new order, or select the Reverse Playlist to reverse the order of items in the Playlist.

 

8. Add Playlist, Save Playlist - select the Save Playlist menu option to make a permanent copy of the Playlist in the Playlist folder of either the Music or Video Library. You can use the Add Playlist menu option to access your current Playlists, and add the items to the Media Panel.
