Creating Video Playlists

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The Media Player in orchidmedia plays video from Playlists created in the Video Library.

You can use the Video View in the Video Library activity to create Playlists using the Play (1) or Add/Play (2) buttons on the Video Toolbar or using the Actions | Play or Actions | Add/Play menu actions on the menu bar.

To see how this works, the following example creates a Play List from 6 Clips from a folder called My Selections:-

First, we select the Video files from the displayed clips in the Video View for the My Selections folder, by depressing the Shift button and dragging the mouse over each track in turn.  The selected clips are highlighted as shown in (3). You can use any of the Mouse and Keyboard selection commands to select the clips.

Finally, we select the Play (1) button on the Video toolbar to add the selected items to the Now Playing Playlist. The Play (1) button will clear any existing clips in the Playlist, before adding the new items, and it will play the first clip (4) of the items shown in the Playlist. If we had selected the Add/Play (2) button on the Video toolbar, the selected items would be appended to any previous clips or tracks in the Now Playing Playlist.

The Now Playing Playlist is shown to the right of the screen, and it can be hidden using the close button by the Playlist title. If your Video Playlist is hidden, you can redisplay the Playlist by selecting the Playlist button shown in the Media Player.

In order to see Video Clips, you need to select the Now Playing Icon from the Navigation Panel to display the Playback View.
