Creating Contact View Designs

You can create your own Contact View Designs to show multiple home addresses for contacts if they exist, or to create your own filtered view of the contact information using the View | Design your own view Menu action from the menu bar, while in the Contacts Activity.

Once you have created a Contact View Design, you can change the contact view to your design from the list displayed as a Menu action under the Menu action View | Custom Views...

 

When you select the Design your own view option, the Contact View Designer Window displays as follows:-

1. Previous and Next Page - Use the Previous and Next Page buttons to move between the available Designs Page, and the Design Details Page.

 

2. Available List - select a Contact View Design to edit or copy from the list shown. Once you have selected a design use the Next Page button to display the Design Details Page.

 

3. Add Design - click on the Add Design button to create a new Design from scratch.

 

4. Delete Design - click on the Delete Design button to delete a selected design from the list shown.

 

When you create a new design or edit a design, the Design details Page displays as shown below:-

1. Previous and Next Page - Use the Previous button to cancel changes and move back to the available Designs page.

 

2. Design Title - Type a design title which will be used to identify the design in the future. If you are editing an existing design, and you change the title, the software will create a new design with the new title name based on the changes you make on the details page.

 

3. Field Layout - the area to the left of the details page displays the selected fields chosen to appear in a contact card. If the information is empty for a contact, the contact view does not display the field. Further if it finds more than one occurence of the the field for a contact, such as two home addresses, it will display the home address fields twice.  It is advisable in this circumstance to keep related fields such as address fields together.

 

4. Available Fields - the area to the right of the details page displays the contact, place, phone, email and instant messaging fields which can be displayed for a contact in a contact card.  In order to introduce a field into the field layout, first select one or more fields from the available field list shown.

 

5. Add Field - if you have selected a field from the available field list, you can use the Add Field Button to introduce the field into the Field Layout.  Select a field in the field layout to position where you want the field to go, and the field will be introduced into this position.

 

6. Delete Field - select a field from the Field layout list, and click on the Delete Field button to remove the field from the contact card.

 

7. Move Up - select a field from the Field layout list to move the field up the list by one.

 

8. Move Down - select a field from the Field layout list to move field down the list by one.

 

9. Cancel - click on the cancel button to cancel any changes made and exit the Contact View Designer window.

 

10. Save - click on the save button to save the new design or changes made to a design and exit the Contact View Designer window.
