In orchidmedia, you can move information from one folder to another by using the Clipboard operations displayed in the Menu bar, the tool bars, or pop-up menus through out the software.
In order to move items from one folder to another, you must first highlight or select the items to move using these common selection commands using the mouse and/or keystrokes:
COMMON SELECTION OPERATIONS
Left Click |
Select item |
Right Click |
Select Action on item |
Shift + (Down/Up Arrow/Left Click) |
Select Serial Group of items |
Ctrl + Left Click |
Select individual items from a serial list |
NOTE:
Version 1.07 provides cut, copy and paste operations similar to Windows Clipboard operations, however it does not currently support dragging items, as a means of moving items from one storage area to another.
The next step is to select the EDIT|CUT, EDIT|COPY, or EDIT|DELETE option or button to indicate how you wish to treat the selected items. CUT will copy the items to a Clipboard Window, before deleting them from the current folder. COPY will just copy the items to a Clipboard Window, and DELETE will delete the items from the current folder.

Clipboard Window
1. Clipboard Items - listed in the Clipboard Window will be individually listed or shown as a collection depending on how you cut or copied the items into the Clipboard in the first place. A Collection consists of more than one item of the type shown. In the picture above, there is a collection of Music tracks for example.
2. Delete Button - highlight a row in the clipboard list shown, and click the Delete button to remove the item or collection from the clipboard.
3. Empty Button - select the Empty button to remove all collections and items currently in the Clipboard. This will only remove items from orchidmedia's clipboard, and it should not be confused with the Windows operating system Clipboard.
You cannot use the the Clipboard Window in orchidmedia to paste items into other Software packages, because the external software will not understand how to treat the information.
If you have copied items into the Clipboard, and then move to another folder and paste the items from the Clipboard, orchidmedia will paste the items to the new folder as shortcuts. Since the original item is stored in another folder, the paste operation simply creates a reference to the original item in the new item. If you delete a shortcut item, it will not delete the original item.
If you have cut original items into the Clipboard, that is to say, they were created orginally in the folder selected, then they are permanently removed to the clipboard.
When you exit orchidmedia Desktop Companion, all items in the clipboard are permanently lost.
